Est. in appreciation of the geological record

Not All Rocks Are Created Equal.

Some carry history. Some carry meaning. Most are just gravel.

Rocks are everywhere — beneath your feet, in rivers, even on mountains — but not all rocks are created equal. Some are more than just hunks of earth. They carry character and a history that elevates them far beyond mere sediment. Those are the rocks we celebrate.

The Geology of Distinction

Every piece in our collection is hand-selected by our geological team and evaluated against seventeen criteria of mineral character, tectonic origin, and what we call "surface presence" — the ineffable quality that separates a rock worth owning from one that is simply underfoot.

We do not source by weight. We do not source by color. We source by what a rock says about itself when you hold it quietly and listen. Jeff says this sounds strange. Jeff is correct. Jeff also selected our most beloved piece of Precambrian quartzite, so we keep him around.

Seventeen criteria.
One rock.
No compromises.

Mineral Character
Assessed by composition, grain structure, and the relationship between dominant and trace minerals
Tectonic Origin
Where it formed, under what pressure, and what the Earth was doing at the time
Surface Presence
You will know it when you hold one

Featured Specimens

Each piece is accompanied by a certificate of geological provenance, a brief mineral profile prepared by our team, and a handwritten note from Jeff.

No. 001

The Hendrickson

Origin: Northern Cascades, elevation 6,200 ft

Mineral profile: Biotite mica, feldspar, traces of hornblende

"Assertive, with a confident surface texture and subdued grey palette that rewards patience."
No. 002

The Quiet One

Origin: Scottish riverbed, sourced by hand

Smooth. Doesn't need to impress you. Already has.

"It arrived and we simply stood with it for a while. The team agreed this was appropriate."
No. 100

The Centennial

A piece of compressed sediment from a period before most things existed.

We don't know exactly when. Neither does it.

"Owning geological time is a responsibility our clients take seriously."

Client Reflections

"I bought the Hendrickson for my office. Clients ask about it constantly. I tell them it's from the Cascades. They nod as though they understand. I also nod. Neither of us understands."

— P.M., Seattle

"My wife moved it to the garden. I retrieved it. This happened three times. She has stopped asking questions."

— Michael T., Portland

"It arrived wrapped in tissue paper with a handwritten card describing its 'mineral journey.' I cried a little. I don't know why. Jeff's note said that's normal."
